The national power grid of the federal republic of Nigeria has collapsed
The collapse happened today 12th of May, 2021 at about 11:01am this morning.
Electric body of some states have sent notice to their customers.
Kaduna electric in a post on Twitter signed by the Head of Corporate Communication, Abdulazeez Abdullahi says:
We regret to inform you that the power outage currently being experienced across our franchise -Kaduna, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states- is a a result of the collapse of the national grid
The electric body also stated in another tweet that the power supply across their franchise shall be restored soon when the Transmission Company of the Nigeria team restores the grid.
Eko Electricity Distribution Company Plc, an electric body covering the base of corporate Nigeria in Lagos has also sent messages to its customers.
The message says:
Dear customer, there is a partial system collapse on the national grid. Our TCN partners are working to restore supply immediately. Please bear with us.
The Transmission Company of Nigeria also confirmed the collapse of the Shiroro and Delta generating solutions.
Similar incident has happened in Nigeria before. It happened in November, 2020 and it also happened earlier this year in February.
